Helena Linder is an artist and researcher whose practice centers on instrument building and photography. With a background in physics, she finds beauty in scientific explorations of sound and light—her work is driven by a curiosity about natural phenomena. She is currently building an instrumentarium inspired by 19th-century acoustics labs, with  her work so far focusing on an acoustic synthesizer inspired by the mechanisms and historical context of sirens. Helena’s affiliations in Stockholm include membership in Elektronmusikstudion (EMS), Konstmusiksystrar, and Fylkingen. She has performed and exhibited at venues such as Fylkingen, KTH Reaktorhallen, and Parallel Collective Gallery.  I’m looking for a PhD position 𓀏 my research interests are musical instrument design, physical computing, media archaeology, history of science, epistemology, STS, new materialism, low tech, and the post-digital.
